On this page I will attempt to answer some of the more commonly asked questions about NLP and my recordings, hypnosis, coaching technique.

ABOUT HYPNOSIS AND NLP

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis has long been associated with the strange and mysterious, with stage shows and faith healers; yet hypnosis isn’t mysterious or supernatural and we have all been in a hypnotic states literally thousands of times. You didn’t notice because it is such a natural state of mind.

Have you ever had a daydream then you are in a trance? Have you have ever looked for something and not been able to see it but then found it in a place you had already looked (negative hallucination) you were in a trance. Have you ever imagined what a room or garden would look like once redecorated (positive hallucination) you were in a trance.

Hypnosis is not sleep – it is really a half-way state between awake and asleep and in it the mind is more receptive to suggestion. Hypnosis is a safe state of mind and was recognized as long ago as the 1890s by the British Medical Association

What is NLP?

NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming and is a set of techniques that enable us to eliminate old habits and create new behaviours quickly and easily.

Some people describe NLP as being the operating manual of the mind it enables us to re-programme and re-condition our thinking. When Hypnosis and NLP are combined they are particularly effective.

What does being hypnotised feel like?

Many people say that becoming hypnotised feels at first like falling drifting off into a light sleep, the difference being that they hear our voices as a background to whatever experience they have.

Being totally aware and yet very comfortable and relaxed. Hypnosis is an individual experience and will not be the same for everyone. The more you practice it the easier it becomes.

How safe is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural and effective way of making contact with your inner (unconscious) self with no harmful side effects, only benefits.”

The side effect that is most common is a feeling of release and relaxation after the session. It will be fine for you to work or travel after your having stopped smoking with hypnosis.

I'm not sure about hypnosis what if I can’t be hypnotised?

This is a common concern however studies show that everyone can be hypnotised the only difference is how long it takes.

The time taken to enter a trance state has nothing to do with intelligence it is more to do with how much you allow yourself to go with the experience.

What if I get stuck in hypnosis?

This again is a common concern however its ridiculous if you think of it. Try and sit anywhere for any amount of time and your bladder will soon make you want to move.

This question is only asked when someone is fearful of being out of control. With the recordings you will relax and for some people that is such a nice experience they may not want to wake up  but they will eventually.

When working with Paul McKenna in his stage shows there would very occasionally be someone who appeared to be stuck, Paul would simply say “okay get the bucket of iced water” and they would be wide awake.

 HOW TO USE THE RECORDINGS

Why listen to the recordings through headphones?

The recordings have been carefully designed with messages embedded into them that are more receptive to one hemisphere of the brain delivered into the opposite ear. Right ear feeds left brain right ear feeds left brain.

In summary, you will get more benefit when listening through head phones.

What’s the best time of day to listen to the recording?

There is no best time other than what time works best for you.

Ideally find a place that’s quiet and warm, when you go into trance the bodies temperature may drop by a few degrees so ensure you are warm. Switch off mobile phones and get comfortable.

How often do I listen?

Repetition is the mother of skill and what we practice we not only get better at but we become.

Listen to the recording as much as you can or need to. I always say to clients you do the work until things change not if.

Should I listen to the recording at night?

Each recording has an ending with an option to wake up or sleep right through depending upon when you choose to listen to it.

If you find you wake up and want to sleep then listen to it earlier on in the evening.

I have a medical condition should I consult with my doctor before listening to the recording?

Hypnosis, as I explained in an above section of the FAQ, is a naturally occurring phenomena its simply talking and listening yet it has a profound affect on our beliefs and behaviours and even our physiology.

If you feel the need to check with a doctor then please do so. However, also check to see if the doctor you consult is already biased. I work with many doctors and surgeons who believe in hypnosis and its benefits so you will get a positive response form a doctor who has either used it trained or studied it. If your doctor has a negative opinion that is not supported by either an experience or training. I strongly suggest you get a second opinion.

If you have a medical condition please only use the recording to support your thinking and behaviours do not replace any prescribed medication without the supervision of your doctor.

Save it on your computer and make a backup copy.

How long does it take to download?

This will depend on the speed of your internet connections and can range from just a few seconds to several minutes.

How do I get my audio file into my iTunes/ iPod/ iPad/ iPlayer?

If your purchasing a recording to use on an Apple device, then please follow my link to iTunes and download it from there. The iTunes process is intuitive to use and has an excellent help section should you get stuck.

If you aren’t able to use iTunes for any reason, then you’ll need to download the recording and then add it to your Apple/Android/other device using a file manager App.

How will I get my download?
